Reagent D is a light-sensitive reagent provided in a 30 mL format for use in food safety and environmental testing. It penetrates membranes of dead cells and, upon exposure to light, binds to DNA to block PCR amplification, thereby eliminating DNA from dead cells and preventing false-positive PCR results. Reagent D is validated for use with Enterobacteriaceae, Cronobacter, Salmonella, Legionella and Vibrio in various food matrices, including instant milk formula and dairy products, and is compatible with Hygiena DNA isolation kits for accurate detection of viable microorganisms.
