Reagent D is a light-sensitive reagent designed to eliminate DNA from dead cells to prevent false-positive PCR results in food safety testing. The reagent penetrates the membranes of dead cells and, upon exposure to visible light, binds covalently to DNA to block PCR amplification. Validated for testing Enterobacteriaceae, Cronobacter, Salmonella, Legionella and Vibrio across various food matrices including instant milk formula and dairy products, Reagent D is compatible with Hygiena DNA isolation kits for accurate detection of viable microorganisms in food safety and environmental monitoring applications.
